Ophthalmic lenses and contacts are an optical practice’s bread and butter, but what do you know about their impact on the environment? This stream will help practice staff get a better understanding of just how environmentally friendly the products they dispense are, and what action suppliers are taking in the fight against climate change. Delegates will be able to hear from manufacturers, associations and ophthalmic lens labs and will have the opportunity to ask the panel questions on where this part of the optical sector is heading.
EuromContact (the European association of contact lens manufacturers) is dedicated to advancing sustainability within the contact lens industry. Its presentation will cover its key initiatives, including providing accurate recycling information, navigating EU regulatory developments (particularly the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive), and our current efforts in developing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) guidelines through product category rules.
Hoya will present second year results and comparison to previous year for its CO2 emission reduction, along with an analysis of its emissions profile and current/future projects. The talk will also include details on Cleanhub, wild area, a net zero update and the company’s drive to reduce packaging.
